As a priority, the brief for this contemporary new build had to deliver privacy from beachgoers whilst maintaining the picture-window outlook to the spectacular sea views.
In acknowledgement of the coastal environment, this Hahei holiday home has a nautical theme running through its design. Top-level structures are inspired by traditional boatsheds while fixed sail shades over courtyard areas further reference the theme.
A flat line roof running along the length of the home beachside ensures minimal visibility from the beach below, while the twin-gabled roofs street-side give a hint of the boatshed construction on the top level.
The interior provides separate entertaining areas for adults and children, all with a sense of family connection, and all managing to catch wide views of the sea.
“Overall, the design optimises owner privacy and brings degrees of separation for family life – all in a design empathetic to the immediate environment” Darren Jessop.
