Feels like summer: designer furniture for the perfect outdoor space

Once again, the time has come to dust off the alfresco living area and welcome the warmth of the summer sun.

From sofas inspired by the craftsmanship of yesteryear to curved planters echoing the organic forms of nature, HOME’s digital manager Katie Delany rounds up the latest in outdoor living.

Lee Sofa, Studio Italia

This solid wood structure — in ash and Canaletto walnut with a woven backrest and paper rush cord seat — is entirely hand-crafted. This old-fashioned, but completely natural material is revived as a tribute to tradition but will last a lifetime.

Maramara Large Blanket, Ottoloom

Ottoloom’s hand-made Turkish blankets will add a touch of opulence to your poolside aesthetic this summer. The densely woven, natural fibre feels blissfully indulgent and luxurious leaving you relaxed and tranquil.

Artek Riihitie Plant Pot, Citta Design

The Riihitie plant pots designed by Aino Aalto were originally presented at the Paris World Fair in 1937. Eighty years later, the curved, organic shape has been reinterpreted in three sizes, embodying the designer’s belief that even the smallest details are worthy of our time and attention.

Roman Organic Cotton Pool Towel in Sage & Chalk, BAINA

This playful towel in a checkerboard print is synonymous with the BAINA brand, which is designed with intent and permanence in mind. The soft contrasting colourway makes a statement everywhere from the pool to the beach.

Medici Chair, Simon James

Medici, designed by Konstantin Grcic, is a low chair with a suitably reclined posture and generous dimensions that give it an embracing confidence. The design was inspired by the material, by the machinery and by the skill and craftsmanship of the people working in Mattiazzi.

FERM LIVING, Desert Lounge Chair, Slow

A modernist piece with a graceful profile for outdoor living, the Desert Lounge Chair is crafted from a tubular powder-coated steel frame, holding an interchangeable woven textile seat made from recycled plastic bottles.

DOLMEN Outdoor Lamp by Philippe Daney, Ligne Roset

All poetry and soft lines, this sculptural shape, evocative of a stone, will extend summer evenings and illuminate the outdoor space effortlessly.
