How two designers artfully blur the lines between home and office

When design duo Kelly Gammie and Sean Monk joined forces last year to form RareBirds Interiors, the goal was to foster immersive, collaborative relationships with their clients while introducing global design influences and championing local artisans.

Their new studio is a renovated Ponsonby villa where a joyful exuberance meets functional elegance in a compact footprint.

More home than office, it allows clients to experience organically the tactility and beauty of spaces designed by the duo, who are committed to delivering interior design that seeks to close the loop on mass production and embrace objects and furnishings of artisanal merit and meaning.

Each room in this intentionally ambiguous studio/home environment offers a certain charm and a candid sense of possibility.
