Bathe al fresco

In the heart of Hawke’s Bay is an artisan workshop garnering significant attention, and for good reason. Led by designer and craftsman Toby Payton, Raw Concrete Design specialises in handcrafted bespoke polished concrete products for residential and commercial settings.

The Rotoiti Bath in a custom colourway.

From bathroom vanities to barbecue benchtops, furniture, and fireplace surrounds, the imagination is the only limitation when it comes to what can be created. “Everything we craft is made with glass fibre reinforced concrete, which allows for infinite design possibilities. What I love about the material is its ultimate versatility and natural irregularity, which means every piece is truly unique. There’s a timelessness and raw beauty to concrete that can bring a deep sense of character to all parts of the home — or landscape in the case of our outdoor products,” Toby tells us.

Undoubtedly one of the other most beguiling aspects of Raw Concrete Design’s pieces is the captivating standard colour range, which spans everything from the deep pastel orange of Golden Clay to the luscious hue of Tarawera Pink and the inviting tones of Forest Green. For a crisp feature, Ruapehu White offers a stunning clarity, while like the infinite possibilities of the forms themselves, custom colourways are unlimited for bespoke applications.
