Q&A with King Living designer Triana Odone
Triana, what are some of the latest trends in furniture and how is King Living responding with its offerings? Incorporating technology into lifestyle has become a key trend and our design team constantly look at innovative ways to fully integrate this in King Living furniture. The King Cloud II is an exceptional design which combines contemporary styling with TouchGlide® technology, allowing one to easily adjust the sofa’s seating, footrest and backrest to their favourite position with the touch of a button. Gesture Control memorises favourite positions, which can be re-achieved with a sweep of the hand across the controls. SmartPocketsâ„¢ have been integrated into the King Cloud II design, which can house specially-designed LED lamps for reading and Charging Tables for mobile phones, and Media Consoles can be included to conceal magazines, remotes and other devices; available in a range of timber finishes to suit your existing interior.
What is a classic piece of furniture that everyone should own? Any household is not complete without a timeless occasional chair. King Living has designed a beautiful range of occasional chairs, named the Seymour, in collaboration with industrial designer Charles Wilson. Able to be upholstered in any of King Living’s extensive range of fabrics or leathers, the Seymour is available with three back heights and two different base options, allowing you to design a chair to perfectly accent your living space, bedroom or home office.
How would you describe the King Living aesthetic? King Living has been founded on an aesthetic of contemporary, understated luxury. The in-house design team are constantly working to update and improve the King Living range with the latest in style and innovation, ensuring King is always a leader in design and technology.
What type of person does this aesthetic appeal to? Our style appeals to people looking for a customised design with a contemporary feel. Furniture is an investment; people look for comfort, style, sophistication and ultimately durability.
King Living uses an engineered steel frame similar to those seen in race cars like Porches, why is this technology important to incorporate? It’s not so much about the technology, but the construction of our sofas. We use galvanized internal steel frames, which increase the overall quality and lifetime of a sofa.
