The Grey Lynn Duo

Nestled in the heart of Grey Lynn, a new chapter of architectural living is coming to life. Two standalone homes designed by Repose are under construction, each conceived as the ultimate in lock-up-and-leave luxury, blending contemporary urban sophistication with architectural ingenuity.

The two homes are identical, mirroring each other in form and function yet each providing carefully considered privacy. Externally, vertical cedar sits atop white brick, which is broken up with operable horizontal cedar-clad screens in a darker tone; a materiality that winds seamlessly indoors where the kitchen and living area form the social core, opening directly to a private pool courtyard.

A gallery-like passage leads to the main suite, positioned as a quiet sanctuary with its own outdoor connection. Two further bedrooms, a media room and a wine cellar complete the plan, offering balance between spaces for gathering and retreat.

Repose director Bayard McKenzie explains: “Our ethos is centred around creating exceptional homes; efficient, luxurious, low maintenance spaces for lasting comfort. I’m a big believer in the value of design-led development, and what it can bring to an area of the market that is often overlooked.

“So often in Auckland we find the only options for empty nesters or those looking for architecturally designed low maintenance homes are apartments. The Grey Lynn Duo stand apart; they are the first of many more to come that bridge this gap — homes to enjoy, places to entertain, to gather; low energy, luxurious spaces with bespoke detailing that are designed for and with the site. Our aim with every project is create something exemplary and enduring.”

With their layered materiality and globally attuned detailing, these homes extend Grey Lynn’s architectural narrative — a considered addition to the fabric of Auckland’s inner city.
