Meet the Interior of the Year judges

HOME Interior of the Year is an awards programme designed to celebrate the best of New Zealand residential interior design and architecture.

The awards seek to recognise outstanding design in five distinct areas of the home: Kitchen, Bathroom, Living, Lighting, and Bedroom, inviting entrants to submit recently completed work that fits into one or more of these categories.

In addition, two further categories, Colour, and Emerging Designer, will consider masterful use of colour in an interior space, and the work of a young or early-career designer respectively.

Entries are invited from those who work in the design sector, across architecture, kitchen and bathroom design, and interior decoration and design.

Interior of the Year 2024 judges, Federico Monsalve, Lorraine O'Rourke, Amy Hendry.

She has a wide breadth of experience gained from working on large scale projects locally as well as in Europe and the United States. Lorraine’s design directive is an all-encompassing one that specialises in high-end residential and commercial projects.

Ever-inspired by New Zealand landscapes combined with her love of Europe’s rich heritage; she is recognised for creating multi-layered narratives in her design approach. Storytelling, honest materiality and considered design detailing are at the heart of each project; whether it is collaborating with local architects and artisans or sourcing the unusual globally.

Lorraine’s tailored designs celebrate the built form with a sense of place and connection for the people that inhabit them.
