Designing a sustainable future

In a 175m2 apartment contained within the Dawson & Co. showroom in Parnell is an immersive new offering for the New Zealand design community. This month, Dawson & Co. exclusively launched in New Zealand one of the oldest and most important luxury Italian furniture brands: Molteni&C.

“Led by creative director Vincent Van Duysen, Molteni&C offers a vast and inspiring collection that we are proud to present exclusively to the New Zealand market for the first time,” Dawson & Co.’s Scott Fisk explains.

There’s no shortage of design heavyweights behind the brand, he adds. “Key designers include Patricia Urquiola, Yabu Pushelberg, and Rodolfo Dordoni, along with influential architects and designers including Gio Ponti, Tobia Scarpa, Yasuhiko Itoh, and Werner Blaser.”

The 2021 collection, Molteni@Home, includes exquisite examples of Molteni&C’s enviable offering, including Marteen by Vincent Van Duysen, a multifunctional seating and storage system introducing harmony with perfectly balanced volumes in an alternation of solids and voids, and Gio Ponti’s Round (D.154.5), which was reborn more than 60 years after the original idea thanks to the Heritage reissue project by Molteni&C, in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives: a forgotten masterpiece brought faithfully back to life.
